Residence Attractiveness

2004 to 2006

The quality of life - task of urban planning.

Future oriented urban management has to meet the challenge of considering ecological, social and economical aspects during planning processes in equal measure. This is the basic requirement to ensure quality of life and the success requirement in the competition of urban regions. Analysis and weighing of infrastructural attractiveness of residential areas is a main task of urban planning. An important objective is the harmonisation of the future development of residential zones and infrastructural facilities which influence the quality of habitation. An important aspect is the usage of existing infrastructure and the identification of deficits in infrastructure whilst keeping in mind cost effectiveness during the whole planning process.

Using georeferences information makes it possible to improve coordination and evaluation of planning strategies and activities. During this research study we have developed an indicator set which can be an important basis for the realisation of a future-oriented policy for spatial development. Spatial conditions and developments can be localised and measured with the help of "global figures". Spatial indicators for attractivness have been developed with methods of applied geoinformatics for the following topics:Schools, childcare, public transport, playgrounds, local recreation, urban greening and local supply. The indicators developed together with our academic know-how partner Z_GIS are a measurable decision guidance for planning strategies and spatial monitoring.
