From 2014 till 2016

The goal of the EU FP7 project FOCUS is to improve sustainability, productivity, and product marketability of the forest-based value chains by improving both the individual processes of the value chains, and by removing the barriers for integrated planning and control over the whole of value chains. The project brings together leading SMEs, experts and organisations in the fields of environment and machine sensors, production machinery and control automation software development.

The main result of the project will be an ICT Platform (the FOCUS Platform) that will support an innovative model-based control of crop and forest economic processes. It will significantly improve levels of automation and management in harvesting and production equipment, and interoperability between equipment and higher level control and management systems. This is in fact a prerequisite for Model-based control of the target economic processes since this approach requires real time information
