ESRI Young Scholar Award 2018 for Anna Butzhammer

Anna Butzhammer, an Applied Geoinformatics graduate from the University of Salzburg, has gained the ESRI Young Scholar Award 2018 for her outstanding master thesis with the title “Modelling intermodal accessibility considering quality aspects of public and private transport - a GIS-based approach for the State of Salzburg”. The award includes a participation in the ESRI User Conference 2018 in San Diego and the possibility to present her work at the Map Gallery.

As part of her master thesis at the RSA iSpace, Anna Butzhammer conceptualized and prototypically developed a GIS-based planning tool for assessing intermodal accessibility to regional centres using ArcGIS Model Builder. Based on network-based data of the Graphenintegrationsplattform (GIP), transport data of the Verkehrsauskunft Österrreich (VAO) and Floating car data (FCD), the prototype has been developed using ESRI ArcGIS Spatial Analyst and Network Analyst Toolbox. The research on and the discussion of the content-related, methodological and technological components provide a transparent basis for spatial and transport planners in order to improve the regional accessibility as well as the quality of specific locations.
